Feminine Adornment ~

I pray this is a blessing to you. This came from one of my tracts I have in my filing cabinet under the title “Christian Dress”. I think it has some worthy points. here are the highlights.

Feminine Adornment
written by: William E. Paul

Adornment defined =
decoration, ornament , to decorate, to adorn, deck, garnish, trim.

The Christian woman’s body is NOT to be the object of adornment or decoration that would make it the center of attraction.
In 1 Timothy 2:9 we also read the positive statement “that women adorn themselves in modest apparel” The word “modest” comes from the Greek word which means, “orderly, virtuous, well-arranged, seemly, modest, moderate, chaste, decent, keeping within measure.”
“Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30

comment by Dr. Joseph R. Chambers
“God has given to woman a place that is unique. she is the keeper of the gate of life. The modern woman must be willing to accept this trust with both its crosses and crowns.”

“Woman are the glory of the man” 1 Corinthians 11:7. God , in His infinite wisdom, made man and woman different. By creation he granted to woman a distinctive and wonderful place in the world. therefore, it is both natural and right for women to glory in their womanhood. Feminity is a quality which by nature they want to preserve.

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on woman’s garment; for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.” Deuteronomy 22:5

Ethel Traphagen, a fashion designer who promoted among women the wearing of slacks in 1915, in recent years acknowledged her mistake and stated she was sorry she ever suggested such a fashion.

The deep ingrained feeling of a Godly man toward his wife is that she dress in the fashion of a lady; that she be feminine andd modest and not compete with him for the masculine role.

The lovely feminine ways God gave to women are a work of divine beauty. These qualities are holy in His sight.

  2. I too have just come across this wonderful Blog through “A Wise Woman”. I like the topics on this site, feel it is all very relevant to the way we should be living. I won’t be a stranger here – I’ll be visiting here to learn more and more.
Thank you and God bless you.

  3. For years, I lived in jeans and shorts. It’s only within the last year I’d say, that I have done a 180. I am almost always in a dress or skirt now.
I still don the jeans every so often but rarely ever shorts. I’ve come to the conclusion that once a woman reaches a certain age, shorts are not flattering anymore. They are either too short or too matronly.
And seriously, is there anything less appealing than seeing a woman with her shorts all caught up between her legs?? Uggh.
I think that in the summer months, skirts are a much better option!
